Perform "Over Now"

Chatham Street hit the music scene with their debut CD, “Last One Out”, in October of 2010.  On September 15, 2012, not quite two years later, they were performing at the legendary venue, The Birchmere, opening for Don McLean, famous for songs such as "Bye Bye Miss American Pie" and "Vincent" (Starry Starry Night).   They've been invited to multiple festivals and concert series, and have opened for Dave Mason, Seldom Scene, Janet Robin, and many more.  In addition, they have received 19 songwriting awards and placements for songs on their two CD's.

Although “Chatham Street” is only a couple of years old, husband and wife, Peter Prout and Christal Prout, have been playing music together for years. Taking the name of the street they lived on in Detroit, “Chatham Street” was formed when Christal decided to pen her own songs as a way to deal with the death of several family members.

Chatham Street likes to call their sound "New Americana", as they feel it carries multiple musical influences, from old-time gospel, bluegrass, rootsy-folk, yet it has the edginess of the contemporary rock and pop music they grew up with.  Christal’s vocals are a cross between Celtic and southern “down-home”, and they soar over Peter’s tasteful vintage guitar, sounding just like her Scottish-Appalachian heritage. Together, they are a magical and refreshing combination.

The second CD, "All That Mattered”, was released on September 10, 2011, almost one year after the first CD.  It has been nominated for three WAMMIE awards (Washington DC's version of the Grammy's) for Best Folk/Contemporary Recording of the Year, and Chatham Street was also nominated for Folk/Contemporary Group of the Year.   Third CD, "The Art of Folding Time", was released on May 10th, 2014.
